Friday — December 5th, 2008
So as we all know, I have reached the end of the premade script. And… we don’t know where to go from here. I made an attempt to write the “First Raid” and then completely blanked out when it got to the point of actually having the characters do something that could be regarded as “Lessons in Pillaging”.
So I started messing around a bit with the character designs, and then I started getting ideas. Ideas that would mean I have to restart the comic from scratch, but I think they’ll make for an interesting story. The first chapter that’s posted here could be considered the “pilot” chapter of a manga. Having read the pilots for both Bleach and Naruto, I can tell you how very different they are from the versions that actually came to be.
The question is whether or not the rest of the cast and crew are agreeable to this. If they are, you can expect the first page to go up January 4th, and every Sunday evening thereafter. Unless I forget to upload it, and then it will be Monday morning before I go to work.

There will be no page tomorrow.
I’m sorry, but I just can’t focus on much of anything tonight, much less the polish a page needs to go up. There’s a bit of an explanation in my journal on dA, but I’ll quote the pertinent information
I got a lovely email from the customer service team of dreamhost this morning. Well, that’s when it’s dated, I actually didn’t read it until about two hours ago.
Apparently TONFA is popular enough that it essentially crashed an entire database server. Considering that both Space Vikings: IN SPACE! and Cosplay Confidential are hosted on that database server, I suddenly understand why the pages have been slow loading on my ADSL connection.
They’ve basically asked me to pony up an extra $20 a month or move TONFA to another server. I am… completely okay with either option. I’d actually prefer it if the site was moved off of my server, but the reason why it stayed on mine after I handed over administration last year was because the new administrator didn’t have the money to be able to pay for a new site.
The most likely thing that’ll happen is the upgrade. I’m hoping and praying it’s not a lump-sum payment, because I really don’t have the $480 dollars that would be the two year fee. That’s on top of my normal $200/2 years, and the domain name fees. Except that I’m pretty sure I’ll be switched off of my current plan. It’s only an increase of one dollar a month, but I like to hold on to things for as long as I can, y’know?
And even better…
It doesn’t help that the current administrator of TONFA is unable to regularly get to a computer due to a combination of moving into a city from nowhere Australia and laptop implosion. I can’t even talk to her about this!
I’ve been pulling my hair out over this and going over all the ins and outs of doing the upgrade. It’s got me all turned ’round, and I find the only thing I want to do is throw a temper tantrum. It’s no good for me to be trying to be artistic when I’m all “RAAAAAAAGE!!”.
argh. I need some time to come to terms with this stuff. Sorry.

I will be delaying posting the comic until such time as I am actually coherent. It should be up first thing in the morning, but if not it most assuredly WILL be up before midnight. It’ll just be a “later in the day” update. My apologises for this, but I’ve been suffering through a headache for most of the evening, and I just can’t seem to focus.
(side note: It would appear the brain freeze plan I told Jenna about did not work. Obviously ice cream does not fix everything. Dammit, now I have both chocolate and ice cream off the fix-all list. How disappointing.)
I’m also working on finishing some of the older unfinished pages. ♥

No page today. I actually do have a good reason for not doing a page last night.
Apparently one of my shelving units is not designed to hold 75 comic books, two dvd box sets, two statuettes, a telephone, a bottle of sunscreen, the $300 I owe dad and really need to give to him one of these days, a stuffed raccoon, six playstation 2 games, three gamecube games, two gameboy games, and 135 lbs of yours truly.
So it kinda collapsed under me while I was trying to get the fm antenna for my radio so it’d stop being all fuzzy and irritating every time I turned it on.
I’m okay! Except for the bruises on my arse and a sore wrist (I need to clean my floor up. Not that it would have helped all that much; I landed in my recycling box.) But yes. Sore wrist = no page. Sorry everyone!
Just think. Today I get to try and figure out how to fix the shelf I broke through stupidity… especially when it turns out that I didn’t get the wire down that way; I got it down by standing on the edge of my bed with a hanger wire bent out of shape. -_\;;;
le sigh.
damn, I’d forgotten how long it took to type one handed.

My first commentary post since the new layout took effect…
Now that I think about it, my old links to comics probably don’t work anymore. I like how, other than Sammi, I’m the only one who posts anything here. Probably because the rest of the crew isn’t tech-savy enough (Damn right that’s a challenge).
Unfortunately nobody is likely to read this anyway, so…
